Dogs, Cats, Reptiles, Rats, Birds, Rabbits, Squirrels, Pigs, Horses, Hamsters, Lizards, and all of their friends & relatives.

Dr. Debbie has been caring for all types of animals at the Blue Cross Pet Hospital since she bought it from a retiring colleague in 1998. A graduate of Ohio State University and Ohio State University Veterinary School, Dr. Debbie has garnered a remarkable experience working with an expansive range of animals in diverse settings.

Prior to attending veterinary school, she attended the exotic Animal Training and Management School in Moorpark, California. Wit an Illinois-based circus, she then spent several years raising and training gold and white tigers. As a newly graduated DVM, Dr. Debbie's work at a wildlife rescue compound in New York involved nurturing dogs and cats, squirrels and skunks, deer and hawks - just to name a few. Following her move to California, she offered her expertise as a relief veterinarian to colleagues throughout Los Angeles County before establishing her practivce at 15239 La Cruz Drive - you can't miss it - it's the electric blue building.

An active member on the Pacific Palisades community, Dr. Debbie has hosted field trips to Blue Cross Pet Hospital by students from nearby schools, Brownie Troops and YMCA groups, as well as taking the time to visit elementary and pre-schoolers. In addition, members of the Palisades community readily volunteer their time to help around the hospital.

Known throughout the community for the depth of caring of their patients, the personable staff of Blue Cross Pet Hospital is dedicatd to the well-being of each animal. Individually and collectively, their kindness shows through in the amount of time they spend with each pet - and in the ability of each staff member to foster trusting relationships with the animals entrusted to their care.

The Sammy Fund

"The Sammy Fund" was created by Blue Cross Pet Hospital to help care for the animals that have no owner to take care of them. It started when we received a frantic phone call from a woman in Pasadena who had found a very loving puppy that had been abandoned on the streets. He was not very attractive, as all of his hair (but a mane around his neck) was gone due to mange. Every place that she called advised her they would put him down - that was the "humane" thing to do. We said we would give it a shot and to bring him in. It was a long haul - he had to have weekly medicated baths and injections to cure the mange. Three days after arriving here, Sammy came down with Parvo. Dr. Debbie decided she wouldn't let him die and proceeded to save his life! Sammy was with us for about 5 months before a family in Rancho Palos Verdes adopted him. They adore him! He is a happy and healthy 80lb boy. Since he was our first of man homeless, helpless animals brought into our hospital, we named the rescue fund after him.
